Microsoft trying to beat google with powerset

Microsoft announced that it will acquire powerset- a semantic search engine which can provide more relevantsearch results than Google by understanding the sentences and language structure.

The amount Microsoft paid has not revealed but according to ‘website venture beat’ the deal was for something over a 100 million.

Powerset is currently on its beta stage and searching wikipedia articles only. Microsoft has to integrate its algorithm with the existing live to get it functional enough to search and index the entire web.
